Year after year, two clubs - Guildford and Bristol - put on events that are every bit as good as the ‘professionals’. Many would say better. This year at Guildford there was much to entertain, as usual, and thanks to being outdoors and plenty of local promotion it does a great service to model engineering by attracting families and model engineers of the future. With plenty of traction engines running, endless train rides behind steam locomotives, boating pools, garden railway, I.C. engines running at full throttle, and under cover displays, it is a highlight of the model engineering year. This year there was also a sell-out ‘trade’ presence. There were so many highlights and here we present just a sample.
