Once again, the National Model Engineering and Modelling Exhibition 2010 or Harrogate, as it is better known, did not disappoint and re-affirmed its place as the UK’s most popular model engineering show. All the key traders were there apart from Arc Euro Trade, which is busy moving house, for all those bargains people wait to garner in a buying spree at the Great Yorkshire Showground. Each day looked really busy.
Once again the support from model engineering, boating and model aircraft clubs was nothing short of fabulous. What a great job they do to promote the modelling hobby. Also nice to see at Harrogate are plenty of youngsters dreaming in front of locomotives and working engines.
Once again it produced hundreds of great models, and a few breathtaking ones. There are too many award winners to list, but here are the winners of the Trophies.

The best in show winner of the Barry Jordan Trophy was D Swan who made a World War I rail mounted gun in 3 ½ in. gauge. It is one of those jaw-dropping models that comes along every few years and stands out from the hundreds of others. Absolutely stunning.
This week we produce our first report on the exhibition, prepared on the day it closes, of some of the models shown by individuals and in competition. More from clubs later.
We also include two kit built models, an aeroplane and a steam launch. These were just great and show what can be done to produce excellent models beyond their basic spec.

More to come!
