KATHY - 5” GAUGE BEGINNER’S LOCO

Part one by Julius de Waal

Tich by LBSC was one of the most popular designs as a first model locomotive. However, it was subject of some criticism that in 3.5” gauge it was too small as a practical model. More practical versions were designed by others in 5” and 7.25” gauges, and this design is loosely based on one of those, in metric and with simpler valve gear than the original. An imperial 5” gauge version is available from GLR Kennions which also supplies castings.
