Our Model of the Week by David Steel started out as a Markie kit and is styled, rather than a model accurate to a prototype, after a Burrell single cylinder engine. A number of improvements have been made by David to the original kit design. The 1:10 scale model is fired by gas for the convenience of indoor running and is fully working, including the generator, which can power all the canopy lamps when the engine is in steam. The engine has two gears for road running in high and low speed that are engaged by levers on the right hand side. The boiler is made in copper and operates at a pressure of 60psi.
