AYRESOME IRONWORKS ENGINE
By Peter Tarn
This is my most recent steam model which was completed in 2019. The flywheel, cylinder block, column, and soleplate are Stuart castings. The bed was cast by Lane's Foundry, Middlesbrough, from my MDF pattern. Many parts were fabricated from blocks of cast iron, including the steam chest and various covers. This proved more reliable and economical than working with castings. the crankshaft was made from steel in five pieces and assembled using Loctite.
This engine (and several others) are now owned by Dr Allen Schuster of Fort Worth, Texas.
